Longsands is a secondary school at the heart of a small community in St Neots, for scholars aged 11 to 18. Our school works hard to engage with local families and the local community, it has a strong academic focus, with a diverse and engaging curriculum on offer and a wide range of subjects both at Key Stage 3 (years 7 to 9) and Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11) and post 16 (years 12 and 13). Our subjects are taught by subject specialists, and sequenced in a way that ensures systematic and thorough teaching. Learning is the core purpose and function of Longsands and we strive to deliver educational excellence.
In order to get the best out of scholars, our teachers ensure rigorous standards for behaviour and attendance. Scholars are encouraged to develop respect for themselves, their peers and staff members.
We believe this is a right of all scholars and one which is liberating and empowering. Through the curriculum we aim to foster curiosity and raise their aspirations, as well as ensure that scholars achieve high levels of attainment that will open doors for their future. A stimulating and broad curriculum also places scholars in a strong position to question and debate the world around them, making them intellectually resilient and preparing them for citizenship in a democratic society.
